Privacy

Private by default. Never published.

A life story is not content. Here is exactly what Lifereel holds, who can open it, and how it leaves your hands intact.

What Lifereel keeps

The material you give a volume: text you type, files you upload, and the dates, places, names and quotations read from them.

The account you sign in with, and which organization you belong to.

Your answers to the questions Lifereel asks when something in the material is unclear.

Who can see a volume

Only accounts inside the organization the volume belongs to. Editors can file and edit; readers can propose material, agree and comment.

There is no public link, no gallery, no feed and no sharing to social networks. Volumes are never indexed by search engines.

Photographs, recordings and documents

Files are stored privately and opened through short-lived links that expire. They are never made public and are never sent to a third party to be described, tagged or generated.

Photographs are sequenced, cropped and faded when a volume is read. They are not altered otherwise.

Stories about other people

A volume can be made about someone else — a gift, a tribute or a memorial. Who the subject is, and whether they have approved, is recorded on the volume and shown on its privacy page.

If you are the subject of a volume and want it changed or removed, write to us through the contact page and we will act on it.

Downloads

You can download a readable copy of a volume at any time. Once downloaded, that copy is yours and lives on your own device — Lifereel cannot recall it.

Deleting

Deleting a volume removes its entries, chapters, questions, notes, contributions and votes, and the volume record itself.

Deleted material cannot be recovered.

What we do not do

No advertising, no selling or renting of your material, no advertising profiles, no tracking pixels on the pages you read, and no use of a life story to train a model.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request about your own material, can be sent from the contact page.

Begin

One photograph is enough to start.

Open a volume in your own name and add the first thing you have. Everything stays private to you and the people you invite.

Lifereel keeps life stories private. Nothing in a volume is public, indexed or shared outside the organization it belongs to.
